The Main Intelligence Directorate showed how they cleared Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhia region of Russian forces
Fighters from the "Artan" special forces unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with allied units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, drove Russian invaders out of their fortified positions in Stepnogorsk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
The Main Intelligence Directorate reported this on Facebook and released a video of the combat operation.
The successful offensive operation allowed reconnaissance troops and other units to stabilize the situation in the town. Key locations in the town are now fully under the control of Ukrainian forces.
During the operation, which took place in close coordination with adjacent units, military intelligence special forces conducted a series of active offensive actions aimed at driving out the Russian invaders and stabilizing the situation in the city.
The military confronted the enemy in the challenging conditions of urban terrain. The agency’s press service released a video of the reconnaissance unit’s combat operations on social media.
“Exclusive footage of intense combat operations by the assault team of the ‘Artan’ special unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Stepnogorsk on the Zaporizhzhia front,” the post reads.
Russian occupiers attempted to disrupt the movement of Ukrainian assault groups using unmanned aerial vehicles.
However, the “Artan” fighters demonstrated high precision and skill in repelling the air attack. The fighters neutralized the threat right as it approached their positions.
“An enemy FPV drone attempted to attack the vehicles used by the GUR special forces groups to storm the invaders’ positions, but was coolly destroyed,” the GUR reported.
Russian troops continue intense assaults in the Kupiansk direction, but are currently unable to penetrate directly into Kupiansk.
The occupiers complain that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are cutting off the land corridor to Crimea with drones.
