In Kherson, an FPV drone struck a journalist; she suffered a traumatic brain injury

In Kherson, journalist Olena Hnitetska was injured as a result of an attack by a Russian FPV drone. The incident occurred on the evening of August 10.

According to the journalist, she was at home around 8:00 p.m. when the drone struck between her apartment and her neighbors’ unit. After the explosion, a fire broke out in the neighboring apartment, and Gnitetka herself was caught in the blast wave and inhaled smoke.

After the attack, she experienced severe dizziness, disorientation, and problems with her vision and coordination.

“I started feeling very disoriented and dizzy, and everything was flickering before my eyes. I couldn’t even see my phone clearly; I couldn’t call a taxi—my fingers wouldn’t obey me,” the journalist said.

Doctors diagnosed her with a concussion and a traumatic brain injury. She was prescribed treatment and additional tests.

Hnitsetska noted that her district in Kherson is considered a “yellow zone,” where journalists are allowed to work, but Russian attacks pose a danger even while at home.

“You’re just sitting in the kitchen—and a shell hits you,” she said.

As a reminder, due to Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, some consumers in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions are temporarily without power. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy as of the morning of August 6.

During a massive Russian attack on the night of August 5, the warehouse facilities of Bosch Ukraine’s logistics partner were completely destroyed.
