A series of explosions rocked Kyiv; a fire broke out in the Shevchenkivskyi district
A series of explosions was heard in Kyiv during an air raid alert. Prior to this, the Air Force had reported that several jet-powered drones were heading toward the capital.
The Kyiv City State Administration reported that air defense forces were on the scene.
Following reports of approaching enemy drones, explosions were heard in Kyiv. Local authorities urged residents to remain in safe locations.
According to preliminary reports, air defense forces repelled the attack by enemy drones.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on the aftermath of the attack in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
According to him, a fire broke out after a drone crashed onto the roof of a non-residential building.
Emergency services are on the scene. Information regarding potential damage and casualties is being verified.
Residents of the capital are urged not to leave their shelters until the air raid alert is over.
In addition, Russian occupation forces attacked a shuttle bus and a passenger car with a drone in the Central District of Kherson. The attack resulted in one civilian fatality and several injuries.
As a reminder, the intensity of Russian attacks on Kherson has increased 2.5-fold since the beginning of the year. At the same time, only about 20% of the city’s pre-war population remains—approximately 60,000 people out of 300,000.
Over the past week, Russian forces have struck checkpoints in southern Ukraine four times. On the border with Moldova, the “Vynogradivka–Vulcanesti” checkpoint was damaged, while the “Tabaky–Mirne” checkpoint was completely destroyed; the “Orlivka–Isakcha” checkpoint on the border with Romania was also hit.
As of the morning of September 4, power outages were reported in four regions of Ukraine as a result of the latest Russian shelling. Utility workers continue to work on restoring power and addressing the consequences of the enemy attacks.
