NATO has confirmed that it will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine under the PURL program
Deliveries of U.S. weapons to Ukraine under the PURL initiative are continuing, despite Donald Trump’s statements about a temporary suspension of ammunition exports. NATO has confirmed that, under the program, Ukraine is receiving 75% of the missiles for the Patriot system and 90% of the ammunition for its air defense systems, funded by allies and partners.
“PURL provides Ukraine with critically important U.S. weapons funded by NATO allies and partners. Equipment provided under PURL continues to arrive in Ukraine,” a NATO spokesperson said.
NATO added that since the initiative’s launch in July 2025, PURL has provided approximately 75% of all missiles for Ukrainian Patriot batteries and 90% of the ammunition used by other air defense systems.
On September 3, U.S. President Donald Trump made it clear in a post on Truth Social that the U.S. is not currently exporting ammunition.
“We are building up our stockpiles and preparing for any possible circumstances. We are keeping them for ourselves, for the U.S., rather than selling them to others, but sales to allies will resume soon,” Trump emphasized.
When asked by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty how to interpret this statement, NATO responded that it does not comment on statements made by official representatives of allied countries. The U.S. Mission to NATO did not respond to the inquiry.
Dmytro Lytvyn, an adviser to the President of Ukraine, declined to disclose details regarding arms deliveries to Ukraine.
“We do not disclose the quantity, timing, or routes of missile deliveries to Ukraine for obvious reasons. We say there aren’t enough of them, and anyone can see that for themselves when such strikes occur. From this perspective, nothing has changed. As for what exactly the U.S. president means—it’s better to ask in the U.S.,” Lytvyn told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Earlier, Zelenskyy called for strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and protection against ballistic missiles via PURL.
The occupiers have stepped up their attacks in the Kupiansk direction.
As a reminder, Russia attacked warehouses and energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
Earlier, drones attacked Ozon logistics centers in two regions of Russia at once.
Drones also struck Krasnodar, causing a fire at a warehouse.
Earlier, warehouses caught fire in Akulovo, near Moscow.
