Kyiv bids farewell to Ivan Trembovetskyi, a defender of Ukraine
On July 10 in Kyiv, a farewell ceremony is being held for Ivan Trembovetskyi (call sign “Yunga”), a defender of Ukraine and former managing editor of the TET television channel, who was killed on July 5 while carrying out a combat mission in the Sumy region.
Ivan Trembovetskyi began defending Ukraine back in 2014. As part of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, he took part in the battles for Debaltseve and Pisky, and also defended Donetsk Airport.
After Russia launched its full-scale invasion, the soldier once again joined the defense of his country. Over the past three years, he served in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and later transferred to the 238th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion “Black Falcon” of the 8th Army Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces.

The farewell ceremony for the fallen soldier is taking place at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral. After a memorial service on Independence Square, Ivan Trembovetskyi will be buried at the Lisovy Cemetery in Kyiv.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
As a reminder, a farewell service was held at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv for Filaret, the Honorary Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
