17 people were killed and 44 others were injured in Kyiv and the surrounding region as a result of an overnight attack by Russia, according to Zelenskyy
As a result of a massive Russian attack on the night of August 5 in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, 17 people were killed and another 44 were wounded.
This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the head of state, Russian forces used 24 ballistic missiles, four “Zircon”/“Onyx” missiles, and 115 drones, a significant portion of which were jet-powered.
Zelenskyy noted that the main targets of the strike were warehouses belonging to civilian enterprises, as well as infrastructure facilities and a railway station.
“Facilities unrelated to the war: a brewery, construction material warehouses, and civilian logistics,” the president emphasized.
The head of state also stated that greater casualties could have been avoided if there had been a sufficient number of missile defense systems. He called on international partners to expedite the delivery of ballistic missile interceptors and to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia.
According to Zelenskyy, a significant portion of Russian companies that produce ballistic weapons are still not subject to sanctions. He called on the G7 countries, the European Union, and Ukraine’s other partners to impose additional restrictive measures.

As a reminder, eight people were killed in the Brovary district while waiting for a train as a result of a Russian attack.
As a result of a nighttime Russian missile attack on the night of August 5, production and logistics facilities belonging to the company “Epicenter” sustained significant damage. One employee was killed, and three others were injured.
As a result of a Russian drone attack on August 4 in Dnipro, a warehouse belonging to the company “Biosfera”—which was part of a 20,000-square-meter warehouse complex—was completely destroyed.
