The Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv was partially destroyed as a result of a Russian attack
Russian troops attacked the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv. The strike damaged one of Ukraine’s oldest film studios and destroyed the country’s largest and oldest costume collection.
“Another extremely grave crime by the Russians against Ukrainian culture. Russia attacked the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv—one of Ukraine’s oldest film studios. A fire broke out,” wrote Ukrainian Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna.
According to her, the attack damaged the costume workshop and destroyed Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection.


“The studio housed about 100,000 costumes and three million pieces of various clothing. Other buildings and structures at the film studio were also damaged,” Berezhna added.
As a reminder, severe weather has left thousands of people without power in the Kyiv region.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, severe weather has persisted for the third consecutive day—the region has been hit by heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls.
