In Kostiantynivka, a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group held two civilians captive
In Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Oblast, a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group was holding two civilians—a brother and sister—captive.
This was reported by Diana Yakovleva, the evacuation logistics manager at the “Sхід SOS” Charitable Foundation.
According to her, the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group entered the civilians’ home and was initially ordered not to harm the residents.
However, the situation changed after active hostilities and shelling began.
“Then the shelling began, and drones were flying over the house. They were ordered to go down to the basement, but there wasn’t one in the house. Next came the “strike.” Everything caught fire; the DRG was still in the house and began running out. And just then, a command came over the radio: return in 20 minutes and ‘take out’ the family,” Yakovleva said.
According to her, the Russian military may have learned of the local residents’ pro-Ukrainian stance from a neighbor.
As events unfolded, the brother and sister managed to escape from the burning house and leave the city. Both were injured.
They eventually made it to Druzhkivka, where they received first aid from Ukrainian soldiers.
The Russian Federation systematically uses brutal torture and deliberately denies medical care to Ukrainian prisoners of war, which constitutes a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime.
