Military officials demonstrate Odessa's preparations for a circular defense (video)
The military has released footage of efforts to strengthen Odessa’s defenses. Engineering barriers and fortifications are being installed in and around the city. Specifically, barbed wire, “dragon’s teeth” anti-tank obstacles, and so-called “confusion barriers” are being set up. Construction is also nearing completion on several kilometers of anti-tank trenches and fortified positions (bunkers), which are intended to strengthen the city’s perimeter defense system.
This was reported with reference to the regional command of the “South” Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Such measures are not bravado, but preemptive work to ensure the enemy has no illusions: any attempt at an airborne assault is doomed to failure. A reliable defense does not increase, but rather reduces the risk that the enemy will advance here in the foreseeable future!” the statement reads.
In May, Russia may seize the least amount of territory in Ukraine since March 2024.
Zelenskyy announced that the situation on the front has stabilized.
Strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the logistics of the Russian invaders are hampering supplies to the front.
The Security Service of Ukraine struck one of Russia’s key chemical industry enterprises, “Metafrax Chemicals,” which was operating for the Russian Federation’s military needs; production processes at the facility were halted following the strike.
Ukrainian defense forces have intensified strikes on Russian logistics in the occupied territories, which is already forcing the occupying authorities to restrict traffic on key routes.
