Drones damage residential buildings and infrastructure in Krasnodar
During the night of 18 March, the city of Krasnodar came under a large-scale drone attack, causing casualties and damage to residential areas.
Local authorities confirmed that one person was killed after a drone struck a multi-storey apartment building.
According to the governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, three apartment buildings were hit. In one of them, located in the Prikubansky district, an explosion triggered a fire that spread to a private residence.
In addition to residential areas, debris from the drones damaged social infrastructure in the Yubileyny microdistrict. The roof of a local medical centre and a power line were affected, leaving part of the area without electricity.
The city’s mayor, Yevgeny Naumov, advised parents not to send their children to schools or nurseries due to the unstable situation.
While institutions remain open, administrators said they would be understanding about children’s absence.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence stated that 85 drones were intercepted overnight, nearly half — 42 — allegedly over Krasnodar Krai.
It was previously reported that the Saratov region was also targeted by drones, with more than 60 explosions heard.
Drones reportedly also attacked a Shahed assembly plant in Russia’s Tatarstan region.
