In Crimea, there is a fuel shortage, power outages, and closed kindergartens: what life is like on the occupied peninsula

On the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula, local residents report prolonged power outages, fuel shortages, rising prices, and problems with social infrastructure. According to them, the situation is particularly dire in the northern regions of the peninsula.

The report notes that after several days without power, electricity has been partially restored only in a few settlements, while blackouts continue in Dzhankoy, Krasnoperekopsk, Armiansk, and other areas. As a result, local residents are actively using generators, and communication disruptions are making it difficult for people to stay in touch across different towns.

There are also reports of a fuel shortage. According to local residents, people have to wait in line for hours to purchase liquefied gas, and its price has risen sharply over the past month. At the same time, some Crimean transport companies are reportedly forced to purchase gasoline in Russia, which also affects the cost of transportation services.

In addition, residents are complaining about rising prices for taxis and food. Due to disruptions in electricity and water supply, kindergartens in some towns have temporarily suspended operations.

The authors of the report also cite evidence of Russian air defense mobile units being deployed near civilian infrastructure. In particular, one local resident claims that an air defense system was installed near a playground.

As a reminder, Ukraine announced that it had struck 19 Russian tankers carrying fuel for Crimea.

Emergency roaming has been launched in Crimea due to power outages.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, amid blackouts, hotspots have begun to appear where people can use Wi-Fi and charge their devices using a generator.
