A large-scale fire broke out in Crimea near the Saki military airfield

On the night of July 1, a large-scale drone attack took place in occupied Crimea, resulting in serious fires at energy infrastructure facilities.

The main strike targeted the “Zakhidnokrymska” electrical substation, located near the village of Karierne in the Saki District.

Data from the “Crimean Wind” monitoring group, confirmed by satellite imagery, indicates that the main source of the fire was an outdoor 110 kV switchgear.

This power facility plays a critical role in supplying electricity to the central and western parts of the peninsula, where a significant number of the occupiers’ military bases are concentrated.

Local residents in the Saki district reported a series of explosions that occurred around 1:00 a.m.

In addition, a large-scale fire was observed near the Saki military airfield in Novofedorivka, where the flames could have spread to the lake’s coastal areas due to falling debris from downed weapons or the operation of Russian air defense systems.

The situation on the peninsula is escalating amid systematic attacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the Russian occupiers’ logistics and energy facilities.

It is worth noting that the “Zakhidnokrymska” substation has already been hit before, notably on June 22, which significantly affects the energy stability of the occupied region.

This was reported by the Crimean Wind monitoring group, citing satellite imagery.
