Emergency power outages have been implemented in Crimea due to the threat of a major accident
On July 31, temporary power rationing was introduced throughout the temporarily occupied Crimea. The occupying administration cites the threat of a large-scale power grid failure on the peninsula as the reason for these emergency measures.
Crimean residents have been warned of random emergency power outages, which may occur without prior notice. Due to the unstable situation in the power grid, the occupiers have decided to urgently restrict electricity consumption across the entire peninsula.
The occupying authorities claim that such actions are necessary to prevent a large-scale failure that could allegedly affect the entire Crimean power grid. Various regions are already reporting power outages and the possibility of tighter restrictions should the situation worsen further.
“At the command of the dispatcher of the Black Sea Regional Dispatch Center (a branch of JSC ‘SO UES’), a temporary power restriction regime has been introduced in the Republic of Crimea,” the statement reads.
The occupying authorities of the peninsula assure the population that this is a necessary measure that cannot be avoided.
The occupiers also claim that this is the only way to prevent the power grid from becoming overloaded, since, according to them, Crimea is currently at risk of a system-wide power failure.
Moreover, the Russian occupiers make no secret of the fact that these are indeed random power outages.
“Since the decision to cut off power was made by the system operator, there are currently no precise hourly schedules for each power grid district. Power cuts will be implemented on a case-by-case basis as needed,” the statement reads.
Against this backdrop, “Krymenergo” also acknowledged that it cannot specify the exact date and time when the power restrictions will be lifted.

As a reminder, on July 30, Robert Brovdi (“Madyar”), Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, reported on new results of combat operations by Ukrainian units. According to him, Ukrainian drone operators struck a base for unmanned naval vessels in the temporarily occupied Crimea, five elements of Russian air defense, and a launch site for attack drones.
On the night of July 27, 2026, units of the Unmanned Systems Department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense struck the Russian electronic warfare station “Murmansk-BN” near Cape Fiolent in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
