Anxiety among Russians has reached its highest level since the mobilization
The level of anxiety among Russians has reached its highest point in nearly four years. According to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), the percentage of people who believe that anxiety prevails among their relatives, friends, and colleagues has risen to 57%.
Just a week earlier, this figure stood at 53%. At the same time, only 37% of respondents said that a calm mood prevails among those around them. The last time a higher level of anxiety was recorded in Russia was in the fall of 2022, following the announcement of mobilization.
This rise in anxiety has been ongoing since April. Among the main issues of concern to Russians, they cited the war against Ukraine, strikes on Russian territory, explosions at infrastructure facilities, and fuel shortages.
Political analysts attribute the rise in anxiety to the prevalence of negative news in the media. Additionally, Russian authorities have recently denied rumors of a possible new wave of mobilization on several occasions, although they have acknowledged a slowdown in the recruitment of contract soldiers for the war.

Russian authorities continue to promote the state-run messaging app Max. Starting in August, users will be able to use its basic features for free without using up their mobile data allowance. The service has signed an agreement to this effect with the four largest mobile operators in the Russian Federation.
