Explosion at military commandant’s office in Russia’s Leningrad region

A powerful explosion occurred at the military commandant’s office in the city of Sertolovo, Leningrad region, Russia.

The incident caused partial structural collapse, resulting in the deaths of at least three people, while the fate of several others remains unknown.

Preliminary reports indicate that the epicentre of the blast was on the third floor of the administrative building.

The shockwave was so strong that it caused the collapse of the second and third floors, as well as the attic structures, reducing part of the building to rubble.

Rescue services at the scene report that the building is in a critical condition, with a high risk of further collapses.

The governor of Leningrad region, Aleksandr Drozdenko, officially confirmed the collapse and the deployment of additional forces to clear the debris.

Currently, the area around the commandant’s office is cordoned off by security forces, and the cause of the explosion is being investigated by a special commission.

Previously, powerful explosions occurred at the Belbek airfield in Crimea. Drones have also attacked the Ilsky oil refinery and Sevastopol.
