In Lviv, a teenager underwent surgery performed by an AI-powered surgical robot

At a hospital in Lviv, surgeons performed surgery on a teenager with a bile duct disorder. During the procedure, the medical team was assisted by a robotic surgeon equipped with artificial intelligence. The robotic system is capable of assisting doctors during various types of surgeries.

According to the doctors, the surgical robot—which is increasingly being used in operations—has a built-in artificial intelligence function. The AI directs the camera to follow the surgeon’s gaze. High-precision micro-instruments and 3D visualization are also used during the procedure. It is noted that such surgeries result in minimal blood loss and the fastest recovery time.

During an operation that doctors performed on a teenager with a bile duct disorder, they used the Senhance robotic platform with 5-mm instruments. One of the doctors explained and demonstrated how the robotic assistant works from the surgeon’s console.

Such surgical robots can assist in a variety of procedures. Specifically, they can assist with procedures involving the kidneys and pelvic organs in urology and gynecology, as well as in the removal of hernias, cysts, appendicitis, and cancerous tumors. In addition, the robotic assistant is capable of assisting in the treatment of abdominal organs in general surgery, among other applications.
