A hoax about Zelenskyy's family and millions in their bank accounts has been circulating online
Another fake story is circulating online about alleged searches at the home of the Ukrainian president’s parents and the “discovery” of millions of dollars. The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that this information is entirely fabricated and created by a Russian propaganda network. This is yet another attempt to discredit Ukraine through doctored videos and fabricated “news” stories.
Russian propaganda networks have once again launched a disinformation campaign claiming that multi-million savings were allegedly found during searches of the homes of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s parents. The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that this story has no basis in fact and is entirely fabricated, and that all the “evidence” used was created using forged materials.
The Center explained that the fake news is being spread through the so-called “Matryoshka” network, which specializes in masquerading as well-known international media outlets and creating fake news using their branding. In this case, as experts noted, a fake video was edited, and a fabricated screenshot purportedly from a Ukrainian news site was inserted, even though no such publications exist in actual sources.
The Center for Countering Disinformation’s statement emphasizes that such information attacks are systematic and are not the first of their kind. “Russian propaganda has repeatedly released similar fakes about the Zelenskyy family’s ‘enormous wealth’ or ‘expensive purchases,’ which were widely shared on social media,” the Center noted.
According to experts, the goal of such campaigns remains the same—to create information noise, undermine trust in the Ukrainian government, and discredit the country on the international stage by using emotionally charged but completely fabricated stories. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
As a result of a massive Russian strike on the capital, a rented humanitarian warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed; it had stored over 320,000 items of cargo and equipment with a total value of more than 79 million hryvnias.
As a result of Russian shelling and a fire at one of the capital’s enterprises, fuel and lubricants flowed into Kyrylivskyi Lake in Kyiv through the storm sewer system.
