At Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, officials have begun targeting passengers with Armenian passports

At Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, officials have begun targeting passengers with Armenian passports

A video has surfaced online in which a passenger describes a sudden change in the tone of the conversation with airport staff at passport control as soon as they learned she was living in Yerevan.

NEXTA reports on this.

According to the woman, who holds both Russian and Armenian citizenship, representatives of the Russian border service displayed a biased attitude toward her due to the political stance of the Armenian leadership.

The airport employee openly told the passenger that in the future, one of her passports—either the Russian or the Armenian one—could be confiscated. The Russian airport representative justified her threats by stating that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “has joined the European Union.”

At the end of the conversation, the security officer added that difficult times lie ahead for relations between Russia and Armenia. No official legal grounds were cited for the potential confiscation of the passenger’s documents during border crossing.

Russia has tightened restrictions on alcohol imports from Armenia, banning the sale of several popular brands of wine and cognac. The decision is explained by the products’ failure to meet established requirements.

Earlier, Armenia appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.

Armenia could receive visa-free travel to the EU within two years, according to Pashinyan.

The EU has confirmed its support for Armenia’s European aspirations.
