More than 500 flights have been canceled or delayed in Moscow due to a drone attack

A large-scale drone attack caused serious disruptions at airports in the Moscow metropolitan area. A total of 527 flights were canceled or delayed, marking one of the largest aviation disruptions since the start of the full-scale war.

The situation was most severe at Sheremetyevo Airport.

As of 11:00 a.m., 50 outbound flights had been canceled there, and another 71 were delayed. Sixty inbound flights were canceled, and 76 planes arrived late.

Significant problems also arose at Vnukovo. Dozens of flights were unable to depart on time from there: 24 flights were canceled, and another 56 were delayed. The situation was also tense for arriving flights—17 flights were canceled, and 77 were delayed.

At Domodedovo Airport, nine departing flights were canceled, and another 16 were delayed. Ten arriving flights were canceled, and 56 planes arrived late.

Schedule disruptions were also reported at Zhukovsky: at least four outbound flights were delayed, and one inbound flight was canceled.

Later, Rosaviatsiya reported that airport operations were gradually resuming. In particular, flight restrictions were lifted at Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo. At the same time, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky continued to operate with certain restrictions, handling aircraft arrivals and departures on a case-by-case basis.

According to the mayor of Moscow, overnight and in the morning, air defense forces reportedly shot down 194 drones heading toward the Russian capital. It was precisely because of the threat of attacks that temporary restrictions were imposed on operations at the region’s largest airports, leading to a massive disruption in air travel.

In Balashikha, near Moscow, local residents are reporting unusual effects of the rain—black, oily stains with a burning smell are left on clothing, cars, and other surfaces.

In five cities in the Moscow region, 16 people sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of falling debris and the chaotic response of Russian air defenses during the drone attack.

The Russian State Duma has responded to the record-breaking attack on Moscow.

The massive drone attack on Moscow sparked a wave of outrage and division across Russia’s regions.

Madyar pointed out the inscription on the drones that attacked the Moscow Oil Refinery for the third time.
