Moscow reported an increase in the number of attacks by Ukrainian drones
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that in recent months, the number of drones attacking the Russian capital has allegedly increased significantly.
According to Sobyanin, about two-thirds of all drones—which, he claims, attack Russian territory almost daily—are heading specifically toward Moscow.
“The number of drones launched toward Moscow has increased significantly in recent months,” said the mayor of the Russian capital.
He also stated that the Moscow authorities, in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defense, are strengthening the system to counter drones. According to him, data from surveillance cameras, radars, and reports from citizens are being processed around the clock to protect the city.
At the same time, Sobyanin did not specify exactly what damage Moscow had sustained as a result of the drone attacks.
He made these remarks during an appearance on Russian media.
As a reminder, on the morning of August 5 in Bashkortostan, a fire broke out at one of the facilities of the Ufa Oil Refinery Complex, owned by Rosneft, following a drone attack. According to reports from Russian authorities, one of the drones crashed into an industrial zone despite the operation of air defense systems.
On the night of August 4, 2026, drones attacked a distribution center belonging to “Lenta,” one of Russia’s largest supermarket chains, in the Leningrad Region. A fire broke out at the facility following the strike, and operations at the receiving warehouse were temporarily suspended.
