Panic is growing among Moscow residents over drone attacks
On the night of and in the morning of June 18, Moscow and the Moscow Region came under a large-scale drone attack. Amid explosions, fires, and reports of strikes on infrastructure facilities, panic began to spread among local residents.
Videos taken by eyewitnesses capturing flashes, smoke, and the sounds of explosions in various parts of the Russian capital are being widely shared on social media.
One Moscow resident reacted emotionally to what he saw:
“All of Moscow is fucking on fire. I’m getting the hell out of here!”
According to the video’s author, he decided to leave the city immediately due to the threat of new strikes.
Russian authorities claim that air defense systems are operational and that dozens of drones have been shot down. At the same time, numerous videos of fires and the aftermath of the attacks in various parts of Moscow and the surrounding region are appearing online.
Video messages from residents of the Moscow region expressing concern about the security situation are also circulating. One local resident noted:
“I just didn’t think the war would affect us like this.”
Eyewitnesses report a massive fire in the Kapotnya area, home to one of the Russian capital’s largest oil refineries. Thick black smoke was seen rising over the area.
Information on the extent of the damage is currently being clarified.
Due to the threat of new attacks, flight restrictions have been imposed at Moscow’s major airports. These temporary measures affect Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports.
Residents of Moscow and the Moscow region are also reporting on social media that there were no air raid sirens or official warnings of danger. According to them, the sirens did not go off, and they did not receive any warnings from emergency services.
Official information regarding the consequences of the attack continues to come in. The situation remains fluid.

Prior to this, Russian occupation forces deployed new “Volna-Kupol-Garant” electronic warfare systems to counter the Starlink satellite communication system.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MODU) released a video of combat operations by the “Ghosts” special forces unit, aimed at disrupting the logistical arteries of Russian troops in April–May 2026.
