In Novorossiysk, the Sheshkharis oil terminal caught fire following a drone attack
A massive fire broke out following a nighttime drone attack on the territory of the Sheshkharis oil terminal in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. The fire engulfed the berthing area of the state-owned company Transneft, specifically near key loading points No. 1, 1a, and 2. These berths are strategically important as they are capable of accommodating tankers with a carrying capacity of up to 250,000 tons.
This was reported by Reuters, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated April 6, 2026.
Sources in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) specify that the strike damaged 6 out of 7 oil loading stands used for loading and unloading oil. In addition to the berthing infrastructure, drones struck ground-based facilities: a key block of the pipeline system and an oil metering station. Currently, there is no official information regarding a complete halt to oil transshipment, as Transneft representatives have not commented on the severity of the damage. The consequences of the attack have been confirmed by objective monitoring and reports from the General Staff.
As a reminder, Ukraine has become a drone superpower, and the Russians are currently unable to counter this. Thanks to mass production and the latest UAV technologies, Ukrainian forces are gaining significant advantages on the front lines and in the Black Sea.
Strikes on Ust-Luga and Primorsk cost the Kremlin over $1 billion in oil export revenue in just one week. Oil shipments through the Baltic Sea have fallen to their lowest level since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
