Power outages have been reported in five regions due to Russian attacks and severe weather

As of the morning of June 9, power outages affecting consumers in five regions of Ukraine have been reported due to Russian shelling and drone attacks, as well as the effects of severe weather, which have further complicated the situation in the power grid.

“The enemy continues to attack Ukraine’s civilian energy infrastructure. As a result of Russian drone strikes and artillery shelling, as of this morning, consumers in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions are without power. Where security conditions currently permit, emergency repair work has already begun,” the statement reads.

It is also noted that due to weather conditions, some settlements have also been left without power.

“Due to strong winds and heavy rains, 40 settlements in the Kyiv and Sumy regions were completely or partially without power as of this morning. Regional power company crews are working to restore power,” the company reported.

Ukrenergo also reported a change in electricity consumption levels. As of 9:30 a.m., consumption was lower than the previous day, which is attributed to weather conditions.

“Given the weather conditions, it is advisable to shift active electricity consumption today to the period when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently—from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, the need for energy conservation remains during the evening hours—from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.," Ukrenergo noted.

As reported by NPC Ukrenergo on Facebook, damage to energy infrastructure continues due to enemy strikes.

On the morning of June 9, Russian troops struck a vehicle delivering bread to residents of the border town of Semenivka in Chernihiv Oblast with an FPV drone. The 55-year-old driver was injured in the attack. The man is receiving necessary medical care.

The head of the Regional Military Administration added that there were further strikes on energy infrastructure. Energy workers are working to restore power supply.
