Authorities in the Moscow Region have begun publishing official interactive maps of shelters for the first time. This comes amid reports of possible strikes on Moscow and growing concern among residents of the region over drone attacks.
On July 30, the Lyubertsy City District Administration posted an interactive map on its website featuring hundreds of facilities designated to shelter the population.
The list includes basements of apartment buildings, underground parking garages, post offices, and other underground facilities that can be used to protect people during emergencies.
Similar maps have also appeared in the Podolsk and Odintsovo districts.
According to the publication, the information about the shelters was made public following a statement by Denis Shterlerman, the owner of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, who suggested that ballistic missile strikes on Moscow could begin this fall after testing of a new type of munition is completed.
The Moscow region has already been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drones during operations deep into Russian territory.
After one of the largest raids in June, residents of the Moscow region reported en masse that they had received no warnings or air raid sirens and only became aware of the danger when they saw the drones with their own eyes.
Following those events, the Kotelniki administration explained that sirens are activated only in the event of a direct and confirmed threat to life, and not during every air threat.
At the same time, officials did not provide information about the locations of shelters, despite numerous requests from residents in the Telegram chat of Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov. At the time, the authorities stated that information about shelters would be provided to the public only during mobilization or wartime.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that nearly 2,000 Ukrainian drones had allegedly flown toward the Russian capital over the course of a week. According to him, Russian air defense forces supposedly shot down most of the drones as they approached the city.
