Fire erupts at Russia’s strategic “Akron” Chemical plant following drone attack
On the night of December 10–11, a fire broke out at the PАО “Akron” chemical plant in Veliky Novgorod, reportedly caused by a drone attack.

The plant is a key producer of mineral fertilizers for the Russian economy. The governor of Novgorod Oblast confirmed the event, although details regarding the fire’s scale and consequences have not been disclosed.
PАО “Akron” is one of Russia’s main mineral fertilizer producers, manufacturing over 5.9 million tons of products annually, including 4.7 million tons of fertilizers. The plant is undergoing modernization to increase production.
It is also noted that the owners and management of “Akron” are already subject to EU and UK sanctions due to their connections with the Russian government.
