Russia has passed a law to protect oil platforms in the Caspian Sea from drones
The upper house of the Russian parliament has approved a bill allowing the destruction of "hostile" drones over fuel and energy facilities in the Caspian Sea region.
This was reported by Reuters.
In its explanatory note, the Russian Federation effectively recognized drones as the main threat to its economic interests in the region, particularly to Lukoil’s offshore fields (Filanovskoye and Korchaginskoye), which were previously attacked by Ukrainian drones. The Russian side claims that the law eliminates a legal vacuum in the field of anti-terrorist infrastructure protection, while not restricting civilian shipping and fishing.
Ukrainian defense forces struck Russian drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea. This occurred on the night of April 10, hundreds of kilometers from the front lines.
Following the drone attack, an oil pumping station in the Volgograd region caught fire in Russia.
