A French-made component was discovered for the first time in a Russian S-300 missile

Ukrainian experts have, for the first time, identified a French component in the Russian 5V55U ballistic missile, which Russia launches from S-300 systems. The component in question is a laser gyroscope module, which is part of the inertial guidance system and helps the missile maintain its intended trajectory.

This is one of the laser gyroscope modules. Previously, Ukrainian experts had not identified such a French component in the Russian missiles they had examined. “These are the first,” Vlasyuk noted.

Experts present at the briefing explained that the laser gyroscope is part of the inertial guidance system. It helps the missile determine its position and movement during flight and maintain a specified trajectory without the need to constantly receive external signals.

Previously, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) identified more than 5,800 foreign components in Russian weapons.

An analysis of the Russian “Oreshnik” ballistic missile showed that all components identified in it were manufactured by companies in Russia and Belarus.
