Trump Did Not Demand That Zelenskyy Surrender the Donbas — Kellogg
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin miscalculated when he tried to secure the occupation of the entire Donetsk region by leveraging U.S. pressure on Ukraine. According to Kellogg, Donald Trump did not force Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make concessions regarding Donbas, but in fact made it clear to Russia that if it wanted to seize those territories, it would have to fight for them.
What Trump Told Putin
Kellogg revealed whether Trump demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hand over the entire Donbas region to Russia.
Putin had hoped in vain that U.S. President Donald Trump would force Zelenskyy to do so—but Trump did not.
“Trump personally did not pressure President Zelenskyy to voluntarily hand over Donbas or the Donetsk region. It seems this became clear during the summit in Alaska,” Kellogg clarified.
He added that Trump conveyed the following message: “If you want this land, fight for it.”
Kellogg also stated that Trump and Putin have a long-standing personal relationship. The U.S. president has already used every possible diplomatic tool to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
This was reported with reference to an interview given by Trump’s former special representative, Keith Kellogg, to journalist Natalia Moseychuk.
Putin does not want negotiations or an end to the war, according to Kellogg.
Earlier, a U.S. Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft—which, according to Axios, had brought CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow—departed the Russian capital.
Putin changed his schedule due to the possible visit by the CIA director.
