Russia reported a drone attack on Moscow and the Yaroslavl Region
On the night of May 19, explosions were heard in the Moscow region amid a drone attack. Drone strikes were also reported in the Yaroslavl region.
This is according to Russian media reports.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down several drones that were heading toward the Russian capital.
According to him, at least three drones were destroyed. Later, he reported on another downed drone and noted that emergency services were working at the crash sites.
Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevraev reported a drone attack on the region.
Due to the incident, traffic was restricted on the road out of Yaroslavl toward Moscow, and additional security measures were implemented.
Local social media groups also reported a possible attack on an oil refinery or an oil pumping station, but there is currently no official confirmation of this information.
Russian authorities typically claim to have “shot down” most of the drones, while information regarding potential infrastructure damage and the consequences of the attacks is still being clarified.
As a reminder, Ukrainian military personnel found an anonymous note in one of the Patriot air defense missile systems. The mysterious message was hidden in a false panel inside the system.

In Moscow, a court sentenced Tikhon Dzyadko, editor-in-chief of the Dozhd TV channel, in absentia to eight years in prison. The journalist was found guilty in a case involving so-called “fake news” about the Russian army due to social media posts about events in Bucha and Irpin.
Vladimir Yarotsky, an artist from Krasnodar who had previously been convicted of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army and “desecrating” symbols of military glory, died in a Russian penal colony.
