Chemical plants catch fire in Tolyatti after drone attack

Explosions were heard overnight in the Russian city of Tolyatti following a drone attack. Fires broke out near two large chemical enterprises. Authorities confirmed at least one person was injured. This was reported by the Telegram channel ASTRA.

On the night of April 4, the Russian city of Tolyatti in the Samara region came under a drone attack. Local residents were the first to report a series of explosions and a large-scale fire on social media.

According to them, several explosions occurred, after which thick smoke rose over the city. People shared videos and photos showing the glow of the fire. After analyzing this footage, it became clear that the fire broke out near two major chemical plants — Tolyattikauchuk and KuibyshevAzot, which are located close to each other.

Tolyattikauchuk produces synthetic rubber and components for tires and rubber products. KuibyshevAzot manufactures nitrogen fertilizers as well as chemical raw materials, including caprolactam and polyamides.

Later, local authorities partially confirmed the attack. The governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, said that an employee of one of the industrial enterprises was injured as a result of the strike.

“An employee of one of Tolyatti’s industrial enterprises was injured,” he said, without specifying which plant was affected. He also added that one of the drones hit the roof of an apartment building.

There is currently little official information about the extent of the damage at the plants. Meanwhile, footage of fires and smoke in the industrial zone continues to appear online. The consequences of the attack are still being clarified.

On the night of April 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly three hundred drones. Air defense forces neutralized 260 of them. At the same time, hits and falling debris were recorded in several regions.

In the Kherson region, one person was killed and another 25 were injured over the past day due to Russian attacks. Kherson and dozens of settlements in the region were under fire.
