Residents in Tuapse are being advised not to go outside due to a fire at the oil terminal

Officials from Rospotrebnadzor have advised residents and visitors to Tuapse to limit their time outdoors as much as possible due to a fire at the offshore oil terminal. The fire broke out following a drone attack on the night of April 19–20.

This was reported by the agency’s press service.

The agency advises against opening windows in residential and work areas, refraining from smoking, and remaining indoors whenever possible. It is also recommended to regularly wet-clean surfaces and rinse the eyes, nose, and throat. People who wear contact lenses are advised to temporarily switch to glasses. If you must go outside, wear a protective mask.

Medical professionals urge people to seek immediate medical attention if they experience shortness of breath, coughing, exacerbation of chronic conditions, or other symptoms of deteriorating health.

The most severe restrictions apply to residents of the Grozneft and Sortovanie neighborhoods, located near the fire site.

According to official data, the number of rescue workers involved in extinguishing the fire has risen to 246. Earlier reports indicated that one man was killed and another injured as a result of the drone attack.

As a reminder, a massive fire continues at an oil terminal in the Russian city of Tuapse, which broke out after a strike by Ukrainian drones on April 16. Firefighters have been unable to fully extinguish the blaze for several days in a row.

Residents of Tuapse, Russia, are increasingly complaining about the unbearable living conditions in the frontline city. The once-popular resort has turned into an area of environmental disaster and constant danger due to regular explosions at local industrial facilities.

On the night of April 20, Ukrainian defense forces successfully attacked a number of strategic targets, including an oil refinery in Tuapse and two large amphibious assault ships in occupied Sevastopol
