"A turning point" in the war with Russia: Ukraine is strengthening its position, says Pistrous
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that there may be signs of a turning point in Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine is demonstrating increasing effectiveness on the battlefield, while Russia is simultaneously facing internal and economic difficulties.
This was reported by the publication Welt.
Pistorius emphasized that Ukrainian forces “truly have the upper hand,” and the situation for Russia is becoming more complicated on several fronts.
“I believe that the Ukrainians do have the upper hand. Russia is going through a period of weakness both economically and domestically, as well as on the battlefield,” he said.
According to the German minister, the Ukrainian army is making significant progress, particularly in the use of drones and precision strikes against Russian military infrastructure in the rear. He emphasized that these actions are yielding tangible results and influencing the course of hostilities.
“The Ukrainians are making significant progress. Strikes on Russian military infrastructure in the rear are becoming increasingly precise and are yielding results,” Pistorius noted.
During his visit to the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the minister was shown how Ukrainian units use drones for reconnaissance and to strike enemy targets, particularly equipment and personnel. He also familiarized himself with the operations of command posts and the progress of ongoing operations.
Pistorius added that the development of Ukrainian technology and combat experience is already significant for Ukraine’s partners, particularly in the context of future cooperation with the German armed forces.
He concluded that there are increasingly frequent assessments that the war may be entering a decisive phase, which could turn in Ukraine’s favor.
The Russian presidential administration has prepared a plan for an information campaign in the event of a peace agreement with Ukraine.
Former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that Moscow is losing the war, not winning it. He called on the Russian side to begin negotiations.
