The Armed Forces of Ukraine have established the ARES Military Expert Council for reforms and international cooperation
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have established the ARES (Allied Reform and Expert Support) Military Expert Council, which will serve as an advisory body to the Commander-in-Chief. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The main task of the new council is to facilitate the exchange of Ukrainian and international experience for the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to support systemic changes in military management and enhance its effectiveness. In particular, ARES will work to improve military science and education, enhance the army’s logistical support, and provide advisory support on matters within the Commander-in-Chief’s purview. Special attention is being paid to the implementation of institutional reforms in the defense sector. British General Richard Shirreff has been appointed chairman of the council. Its membership also includes international military experts, notably former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency David Petraeus, representatives of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as well as high-ranking officials from Canada, Germany, Slovakia, and Norway. All members of the council have significant combat and leadership experience. Preparations are currently underway for ARES to begin its practical work, and the body’s first meeting is scheduled to take place in the near future. As a reminder, Russian troop losses have reached record levels and exceeded their monthly mobilization rate. Meanwhile, the commander of the unmanned systems regiment stated that the modern battlefield is now impossible without ground-based robotic systems (GRS). According to him, their development is proceeding at a very rapid pace.
