Ukraine Welcomes the UN Report on the Human Rights Situation and Russia’s Attacks on the Energy Sector
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has officially expressed its support for the findings of the report by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which documents numerous violations of international humanitarian law.
The document contains a detailed analysis of Russia’s systematic attacks on our country’s critical energy infrastructure and highlights the occupiers’ criminal policies toward the civilian population.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is particularly concerned by the report’s findings regarding the alarming rise in the number of civilian casualties.
Separately, UN experts highlighted gross violations of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians who are being illegally detained in places of confinement on the territory of the aggressor state.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses that the published data confirm the Kremlin’s deliberate policy aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity in the temporarily occupied territories.
In particular, the report details cases of forced mobilization of the local population, brutal persecution for pro-Ukrainian views, and the systematic militarization of Ukrainian children.
According to diplomats, these findings are of critical importance for international justice.
They serve as additional evidence to hold Russia fully accountable for the war crimes it has committed and its systematic disregard for international law.
This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
