Ukraine announced strikes on a missile center and an airbase in Russia

Ukraine announced that it had carried out long-range strikes on the “Progress” rocket center in the Samara Region and the Savasleika airbase on the territory of the aggressor state, Russia. Al Jazeera English reported this, citing a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian-made “Flamingo” cruise missiles were used to strike the “Progress” rocket facility, which operates for the Russian space agency Roscosmos. The president stated that the center produces rocket technology and electronics and plays an important role in the military capabilities of the Russian Federation—the aggressor state.

According to a source, the facility is located approximately 900 km from the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian forces also, according to Zelenskyy, successfully struck the Savasleika airbase, located approximately 700 km from the border.

The President of Ukraine stated that the plan for “long-range sanctions” against Russia is being implemented, and that Russia’s military capabilities must be reduced by inflicting damage on specific targets.

Samara Mayor Ivan Noskov reported a “massive” Ukrainian attack, which, according to him, was repelled by air defenses. He also confirmed damage to some industrial facilities in the region.

In the Moscow region, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov, a Ukrainian drone struck a residential building in the city of Shatura. Two people were injured, including a nine-year-old child; her condition has stabilized.

On the same day, Russia attacked an apartment building in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Local authorities reported the death of a three-month-old infant.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry of Russia—the aggressor state—stated that it is seeking explanations from the U.S. and Turkey regarding reports of a possible transfer to Kyiv of a large arsenal of American weapons and ammunition, which, according to these reports, are located in Turkey. Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that such a transfer, if it takes place, would cause “serious damage” to Moscow’s relations with both countries.
