Ukraine has significantly reduced the time it takes to launch strikes thanks to real-time data, according to the WSJ
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been able to significantly improve their effectiveness in striking Russian targets thanks to new technology that provides satellite data in near real time.
This has reduced the time between target detection and strike delivery by 90%.
According to the publication, in recent months, Ukrainian military personnel have been receiving images directly on drone operators’ screens just 15 minutes after they are captured. Previously, intelligence data underwent centralized verification, which could delay its transmission by hours or even days.
The new system was implemented thanks to a collaboration between the American satellite operator Vantor, the Dutch company Bravo1Alpha, the American company Persistent Systems, and the Ukrainian defense company Bureviy.
According to the WSJ, this is the first known instance in which unclassified commercial satellite imagery is being delivered directly to the military for combat decision-making in near real time.
It is noted that these same satellites are also used for civilian tasks, including monitoring illegal fishing, observing infrastructure, and updating mapping services, including Google Maps.
The rapid receipt of satellite data helped the Ukrainian military identify Russian targets more quickly and strike them, which became one of the factors in deterring the Russian Federation’s offensive operations in certain sectors of the front.
This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Ukrainian attacks on military and strategic targets within Russian territory are gradually shifting the dynamics of the war, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for Russian authorities to conceal the true consequences of the protracted conflict from the public.
Alexander Khinshtein, governor of Russia’s Kursk region, reported that 507 civilians have been killed as a result of hostilities in the region. He announced these figures during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
As a reminder, on May 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Russian command and observation post near Tyotkino in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, as well as a number of other enemy targets in the Kherson, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions.
Prior to this, Russian units in the Kursk sector made another attempt to break through to the rear of Ukrainian positions, using a gas pipeline and high-speed light vehicles. Thanks to the coordinated actions of intelligence and paratroopers from the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade of the Airborne Forces, the enemy attack was completely repelled while still in the deployment phase.
