Hospitals across Russia are being converted into military field hospitals due to the influx of wounded soldiers from the front lines
The Russian Ministry of Defense’s military hospitals have become overcrowded due to heavy casualties on the front lines, leading to the increasingly frequent transfer of the wounded to civilian hospitals for treatment and rehabilitation.
For participants in the war against Ukraine, entire wards in civilian medical facilities across various regions of Russia—including St. Petersburg, the Yaroslavl Region, and Siberia—are being repurposed en masse and placed under a regime of secrecy.
These special wards operate under a magnetic-card access system; medical staff sign non-disclosure agreements; and patient records use only numbers instead of names. Due to a severe shortage of hospital beds, beds are being set up directly in the hallways. Prioritizing the treatment of the wounded in civilian hospitals has significantly hindered the local population’s access to routine medical care and has led to domestic conflicts and incidents of law and order violations by Russian military personnel.
“The Moscow Times” reports this, citing an investigation by the publication “Vot Tak.”
As of the morning of September 10, 2026, the Russian army’s total personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion stand at approximately 1,502,390 soldiers. In the past 24 hours alone, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia lost another 1,520 servicemen.
The day before, 221 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines. The enemy launched the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction, where the Defense Forces repelled 21 assaults, and Russian troops lost more than 60 occupiers.
