Ukrainian defense forces struck key Russian military targets, including two radar stations — Генштаб

On September 23 and during the night of September 24, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes against a number of key military targets of the Russian army.

Near the city of Donetsk, a facility used by Russian units for the storage, preparation, and launch of attack UAVs was struck. Targeting such facilities is one of the priority areas of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ combat operations.

Additionally, in the areas of Chekhorad (formerly Novogrodkivka) and Yakymivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the 35N6 “Kasta” and P-18 radar stations were struck, respectively.

In addition, a fuel and lubricants depot belonging to the occupying forces was struck in the Velyka Bilozerka area of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

“Operations against key military targets of the Russian aggressor are ongoing,” the General Staff emphasized. 

What is known about the targets struck?

The 35N6 “Kasta” is a Russian mobile omnidirectional radar system designed to detect air targets—particularly at extremely low altitudes—and transmit data to air defense systems.

P-18—a mobile long-range meter-band radar station developed during the Soviet era. It is designed to detect air targets, determine their coordinates (azimuth, range), and transmit data to users; it is in service with the Russian Armed Forces as an early warning system for air defense. 

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck UAV command posts and a Rubicon unit depot in the Donetsk region.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian “Kasta-2E2” radar station, which is estimated to be worth $60 million. Throughout September 20 and into the night of September 21, the Ukrainian military also struck other key enemy targets.

On September 21, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian facility used for the storage, preparation, and launch of attack drones. The strike took place near the town of Tsymbulova in Russia’s Oryol Oblast.
