People in Oleshky Are Left Without Food—Two Men Have Died
In the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, there are still about 2,000 people facing serious difficulties in accessing food. Tetyana Gasanenko, head of the Oleshky City Military Administration, said that two men were killed while trying to return to the city to bring food to their families.
The situation regarding access to food has become dire in the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. According to Tetyana Hasanenko, head of the Oleshky City Military Administration, about 2,000 people currently remain in the city itself. If we also take into account the villages that are part of the community, there are a total of about 6,000 people there.
One of the main problems remains the delivery of food to those who were unable to leave the occupied territory. The roads and fields around Oleshky are mined, so people are effectively cut off from safe routes. According to Gasanenko, 11 people previously managed to make their way out of Oleshky on foot across a mined field. They had to walk about 23 kilometers to the village of Radensk.
However, two men later tried to return to the town to bring food to their relatives who had remained in Oleshky. “It’s about 23 kilometers to the village of Radensk… Two men died on that road while trying to return to the city to bring food to family members who were still there,” said the head of the MBA.
She emphasized that it is currently extremely difficult to leave Oleshky, even on foot. According to her, the city continues to suffer from a food shortage. “And it receives no aid whatsoever from the Russian occupation forces,” Hanasenko stated.
The Situation in Oleshky
The difficult situation in occupied Oleshky has been reported on previously. Serhiy Kozyr, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” party, stated that people in the city have been living in extremely difficult conditions for over half a year. According to him, residents cannot leave the city normally due to mined roads and fields.
It was also previously reported that people are trying to survive amid shortages of water and food. In particular, according to the BBC, some residents of Oleshky have already been forced to eat weeds from their gardens, as food is not being delivered to the city and the vegetable season has ended.
Thus, the people who remain in occupied Oleshky have effectively been left without adequate access to food and without the ability to leave safely. The situation remains difficult, and information about the residents’ plight comes mainly from Ukrainian authorities and people who managed to leave the city. Gasanenko spoke about the situation on the “Kyiv 24” broadcast.
As a reminder, over the past day, Russian invaders suffered 1,520 casualties. Additionally, one tank, five armored combat vehicles, and 73 artillery systems were destroyed.
Occupied Donetsk and a significant portion of the region’s territory temporarily seized by Russian terrorists were left without electricity on September 18.
On the night of Saturday, September 19, the Russian terrorist army struck Pavlohrad. A fire has been reported.
