A Ukrainian regiment has adapted the Stugna-P to take down Russian drones

The 1021st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment of the Ukrainian Air Force has adapted the “Stugna-P” anti-tank missile system to counter Russian attack drones. The system, which was originally designed to engage armored vehicles, has already been demonstrated as an air defense weapon.

On September 13, 2026, the Ukrainian military demonstrated the destruction of a Russian drone using the “Stugna-P” anti-tank missile system.

The demonstration took place just five days after the presentation of the new RK-2PZ anti-aircraft missile, developed by the Ukrainian design bureau “Luch.” The missile was unveiled at the MSPO-2026 international exhibition in Poland.

During the event, the “Luch” Design Bureau unveiled the 130-mm RK-2PZ for the first time, which was developed based on the “Barrier” anti-tank system.

The RK-2PZ is designed for use as part of the “Desna” system and the upgraded “Strela-10.” According to the data provided, the missile is already being used on the front lines.

The system retains the laser guidance principle used in the base anti-tank missile. A laser beam transmits commands to a receiver in the rear section of the missile. After visually acquiring the target, the operator launches the missile, and the system corrects its flight path until impact.

Detonation occurs contactlessly upon a signal from onboard sensors or upon a direct hit on the target.

The RK-2PZ weighs 29 kg, and its high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighs 6.1 kg.

The manufacturer does not disclose precise technical specifications or a list of typical targets. At the same time, the anti-tank version of the missile had a subsonic speed of 200–220 m/s.

According to estimates, this speed is insufficient to intercept cruise missiles, but it may be sufficient to destroy slower drones.

The adaptation of the “Stugna-P” for drone engagement is taking place against the backdrop of the development of Ukrainian air defense systems and new missile solutions.

In particular, at the MSPO-2026 exhibition in Poland, Ukrspecsystems officially unveiled the RAM-2X loitering munition with an X-shaped wing.

According to the data provided, this system is already in use on the front lines and has over 400 confirmed target kills.

This was reported by the 1021st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

In the first 15 days of September, the Unmanned Systems Forces confirmed the loss of 6,280 Russian occupiers. This is 25.6% more than during the same period in August. At the same time, Russia plans to significantly increase the pace of replenishing its army’s personnel.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian Su-24 aircraft at its home airfield in Saki in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the extent of the damage to the aircraft is currently being assessed.

On September 7 and during the night of September 8, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a number of key military targets belonging to the Russian occupation forces.

In Sevastopol, in occupied Crimea, the Ukrainian military struck a Russian BK-16 high-speed landing craft. A “Krasukha-4” mobile electronic warfare station was also struck in the vicinity of the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol.

On August 31 and during the night of September 1, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes against a number of military facilities belonging to the Russian occupiers.

On the night of August 26, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck facilities at the “Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez” LLC oil refinery in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia.

Ukrainian strikes since July have put seven of Wildberries’ ten largest logistics centers in Russia out of commission, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. In particular, following the attack on August 16, the company’s large facilities in Domodedovo and the “Koledino” industrial park ceased operations; the latter covered an area of approximately 250,000 square meters.

On the night of August 26, drones again attacked the Wildberries logistics center in Kotovsk, Tambov Oblast, Russia, after which a massive fire broke out at the facility. According to Russian authorities, the fire covered at least 40,000 square meters, and one employee was injured.

Ukrainian drones simultaneously attacked the Lukoil oil refinery and the Wildberries warehouse in Russia.

As a reminder, the Orsk oil refinery in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation completely halted operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.

Freight transportation costs are rising in Russia due to the strikes on the oil refinery, according to Reuters.
