Ukrzaliznytsia has gained access to military drone tracking systems

Ukrzaliznytsia has gained access to military drone tracking systems

The joint efforts of the Ukrzaliznytsia dispatch service and military units made it possible to move several hundred passenger trains out of immediate danger during enemy attacks.

This was reported by Defense Minister Advisor Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, who emphasized the critical importance of adhering to safety protocols during evacuations.

Currently, railway workers have direct access to military airspace control systems, allowing them to track the movement of attack drones in real time.

In cases where the situation is not critical, specialists simply adjust the schedule to avoid a train encountering a drone without causing undue anxiety for passengers.

However, if a direct threat to passengers’ lives is detected, an emergency evacuation is carried out. Beskrestnov urged citizens to move at least 100 meters away from the rolling stock during such incidents to minimize risks in the event of a strike.

“If a ‘Shahed’ hits a passenger car, it will be a ‘mass grave,’ so I am drawing passengers’ attention to the need to move at least 100 meters away from the train,” the minister’s advisor emphasized.

He added that railroad tracks and the trains themselves are priority targets for the enemy.

Manually controlled drones pose a particular danger, as their operators can change the target’s priority directly during flight.

There have been recorded instances where a drone heading toward an infrastructure facility changed course to target a passenger train after spotting it below.

“We have repeatedly documented cases where a manually controlled drone from Russia was flying to attack an infrastructure facility but, upon seeing a train below, changed its mission and attacked the train,” said Serhiy Beskrestnov.

This confirms the insidious nature of the aggressor’s tactics toward the civilian population.

The military and railway workers are working in close coordination so that passengers do not even notice most potential threats.

Thanks to rapid decisions, hundreds of trains were rerouted or held in safe zones, preventing mass casualties.

As a reminder, a Ukrainian interceptor drone destroyed a “Shahed” in mid-air.

Russia also attacked Ukraine with “Shaheds” and “Gerberas,” and air defense forces destroyed 298 drones.
