Russian Defense Ministry Reports 35 Drones Shot Down Over Crimea, Buildings and Cars Damaged
Russia’s Defense Ministry said that 35 drones were shot down overnight over occupied Crimea.
The statement was echoed by Sevastopol’s Russian-installed governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, in a post on Telegram.
He reported that debris fell across parts of the city.
“Debris from downed UAVs caused a grass fire in the area of Streletskaya Bay. Near Victory Park, a small section of the roof of an apartment building caught fire after drone fragments fell. In the Fiolent area, debris from a downed UAV set a private house and a section of a forest belt on fire. Along Fiolent Highway, falling debris caused fires in grass and at an industrial building. Emergency services are working at the scene. On Vakulenchuka Street, windows were shattered in several apartments, and eight cars were damaged by debris from downed drones,” he wrote.
According to the “Krymsky Veter” monitoring group, the damaged industrial facility is involved in air defense system repairs.
“Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defense Concern is represented in Sevastopol by a production and technical base (service center) for maintaining and repairing air defense systems. The center ensures the operational readiness of air defense equipment serving the needs of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and has been operating since 2016. Subscribers also report that at least five drones struck the building,” the statement said.
The Ukrainian side has not commented on the incident.
