In occupied Volnovakha, a Russian battalion commander was buried after being shot by his regiment commander

In occupied Volnovakha, a Russian battalion commander was buried after being shot by his regiment commander

On April 24, in occupied Volnovakha, the funeral will be held for Yuriy Burakov, commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 95th Regiment of the 5th Brigade of the occupying forces, known by the call sign “Sedy.”

The invader’s death resulted from internal conflicts within units of the Russian Federation’s 51st Army, where commanders resort to vigilante justice and the murder of subordinates.

According to Russian sources, Burakov was “killed by his own men” back in the summer of 2025. A former employee of the Russian special services who volunteered for the front lines became a victim of a conflict within the command of the occupying brigade.

Dmitry Ivankevich, commander of the 95th Regiment and known by the call sign “Starina,” was accused of the murder of “Sedoy.”

Ivankevich later provided a confession, confirming that he had killed his subordinate officer due to internal disputes and corruption.

The reason cited for Burakov’s murder is that he had become aware of large-scale embezzlement of property and attempts to conceal massive personnel losses.

“Starina,” trying to avoid responsibility for failures on the front lines, decided to physically eliminate the witness.

However, the killer’s own fate was short-lived—last December, Ivankevich’s body was found with four gunshot wounds.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the regiment commander and the identities of those who carried out his execution remain officially unconfirmed.
