Five State Emergency Service rescuers were killed in a Russian attack on Kharkiv
Russian forces launched a second strike on Kharkiv, killing five State Emergency Service personnel. The rescuers came under fire while clearing up the aftermath of the previous attack and extinguishing a fire that broke out following the Russian strike.
This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko on Telegram.
“In Kharkiv, five State Emergency Service rescuers were killed while fighting a fire caused by a second Russian strike. At least five more were wounded,” the minister wrote.
Klymenko expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased, calling them “unarmed heroes,” and added that “Ukraine, unfortunately, continues to lose those who save lives.”
“The massive Russian attack continues. Kyiv is under the main assault. There is significant destruction of civilian infrastructure. The necessary services are involved in dealing with the aftermath,” the Minister of Internal Affairs reported, urging Ukrainians to stay in a safe place during the alert.
As a reminder, Russia attacked the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, causing a fire.
Prior to this, Russian missiles struck the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in injuries.
Less than 29.5 million people live in territory controlled by Ukraine, according to a study.
