Ukraine is developing technology for "smart" swarms of interceptor drones

Ukraine plans to develop a new generation of interceptor drones capable of operating as part of so-called "smart" swarms. Several companies are working on this technology as part of the Brave1 innovation cluster.

This was reported by Business Insider.

The goal of the project is to ensure that the drones function as a single system under the control of a single operator, with actions coordinated in real time.

A single pilot will be able to control multiple drones simultaneously, both locally and remotely. In the future, drones will be able to communicate directly with each other during flight to improve mission efficiency.

This technology represents the next stage in the development of interceptor drones, which over the past year have become a key element of Ukraine’s defense due to their low cost and scalability.

Interceptor drones have already destroyed over 2,300 targets. Over the past month, their effectiveness has increased by 55%, confirming the success of this approach.

The Ukrainian military uses interceptor drones for aerial ramming attacks. The drones are equipped with small warheads, fly directly toward the target, and detonate in mid-air, destroying it.

The deployment of swarms will increase the effectiveness of such operations and strengthen protection against massive attacks.

Airbus successfully tested a new UAV interception platform, Bird of Prey, based on a modified Do-DT25 drone at a military training ground in northern Germany.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has certified and authorized the new Ukrainian-made “Shvidun” unmanned aerial system for use by the Armed Forces.
