Since the start of the full-scale war, 134 media workers have been killed
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 134 Ukrainian media professionals have been killed. Most of them—105 media workers—joined the ranks of the Defense Forces after the war began and were killed while participating in combat operations.
Another 15 media professionals were killed while performing their journalistic duties, and 14 were civilian casualties of Russian aggression.
These figures were released by the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) ahead of Ukraine’s Defenders’ Day.
The IMI noted that journalists, cameramen, photographers, editors, producers, and other media professionals are currently serving in the military. Some of them joined the Defense Forces in the very first days of the full-scale invasion, while others were mobilized later.
