Video: Fighters in Kholodny Yar destroyed a Shahed drone using a Stinger MANPADS
Servicemen of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodny Yar” shot down a Russian “Shahed”-type jet-powered drone in the Kramatorsk district.
After Ukrainian defenders heard the characteristic hum of the enemy drone, they quickly pinpointed its direction, deployed a U.S.-made Stinger man-portable air-defense system, and successfully engaged the target.
The brigade noted that the jet-powered variant of the “Shahed” is an extremely difficult target to intercept, so the successful destruction of such a drone was a significant achievement for the anti-aircraft troops.
The unit emphasized that interceptor drones remain the primary means of combating enemy aerial targets.
According to the brigade, this month alone, the anti-aircraft missile division of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade “Kholodny Yar” has struck nearly 400 aerial targets.
However, military officials stress that the American Stinger MANPADS remains an effective weapon, especially when engaging complex aerial targets such as jet-powered attack drones.
A video of the successful combat operation on August 6 was released by the brigade’s press service.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out new long-range strikes against militarily significant targets on Russian territory and in the Black Sea. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian military struck targets more than 1,300 kilometers from the front line, targeting oil infrastructure and the Russian navy.
