Video: Drones Attacked the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery in Russia
On the morning of August 28, drones attacked an oil refinery in Yaroslavl. Following the strike, a massive fire broke out on the refinery’s grounds, and reports emerged of Russian air defense systems operating in the city.
During the attack, residents of Yaroslavl heard explosions. Russian air defense systems attempted to shoot down the drones, but a fire broke out at the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery following the attack.
The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery is one of the largest and oldest refineries in Russia. The facility is part of Slavneft, a joint venture between the Russian oil companies Rosneft and Gazprom Neft.
The refinery has a capacity of approximately 15 million metric tons of processed crude oil per year. It produces gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and petrochemical feedstocks.
The facility is of strategic importance to Russia’s fuel infrastructure. YANOS products are used in fuel supply chains, particularly to meet the needs of the Russian military.
The plant is linked to the supply of fuel and lubricants to the Russian Ministry of Defense, law enforcement agencies, and defense industry enterprises in Russia’s Central Federal District.
Of particular significance is the production of aviation fuel, which can be used to meet the needs of the Russian military aviation.
As a reminder, the Orsk Oil Refinery in the Orenburg Region of the Russian Federation completely halted operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.
