Video: Russian troops destroyed the family home of the Semerenko sisters, Olympic champions
The Russian air force carried out a targeted strike on a residential building belonging to the family of legendary Ukrainian biathletes and Olympic champions Vita and Valentina Semerenko.
As a result of a direct hit by an enemy aerial bomb on June 29, the building in the village of Krasnopillia was completely destroyed and reduced to rubble.
The athlete noted that the destruction of her home is not merely damage to property, but the loss of a place where her fondest memories were kept and where her professional career began.
“Krasnopillia. My home. My childhood. My story. It was right here that I took my first steps toward biathlon. It was right here that I brought my medals, including my Olympic gold. It was the home where my memories, my family, and my life lived. Today, Russian KABs have turned it into ruins,” wrote the Olympic champion.
The decorated athlete emphasized that the enemy may be able to destroy walls, but it cannot erase the memory of her homeland or the path she has traveled.
She stressed that every such ruin is yet another war crime committed by the aggressor, for which the occupiers will inevitably be held accountable before the law and history.
“They can destroy walls, but they cannot destroy my memories, the path I have traveled, or my love for my hometown of Krasnopillia. Behind every such ruin lies a war crime. And they will be held accountable for each one,” added Vita Semerenko.
Fortunately, no one was killed during this shelling. The parents of the famous biathletes had evacuated the dangerous border town of Krasnopillia in advance, so no one was in the house at the time of the airstrike.
Vita Semerenko herself reported the tragic incident on her Facebook page, posting shocking images of the damaged property.
