Video: Ukraine Unveils a Maritime Drone Aircraft Carrier Designed to Launch "Shahed" Interceptors
Ukrainian developers demonstrated the operation of the MV11 maritime unmanned carrier, from which STING interceptor drones are launched on the open sea to combat Russian “Shaheds.”
The STING interceptor drones have long been in use by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. They are launched directly from “Magura” maritime drones, which allows for the interception of aerial targets far from the coast.
The MV11 maritime drone serves as the carrier for the interceptors. The STINGs are housed in special protected compartments on board. When it becomes necessary to deploy the interceptors, the compartment lids open, and the drones are launched into the air.
The company emphasized that the demonstrated system confirms the capabilities of the Hornet Vision CTRL complex. It allows interceptors to be launched remotely from virtually any location—a field, a forest, water, or a moving platform.
Commenting on the video showing the launch of a STING from a maritime drone, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense jokingly asked whether such a system could be considered Ukraine’s first aircraft carrier.
The MV11 is capable of carrying up to 2,200 kilograms of payload and can operate autonomously for up to seven days.
In the configuration demonstrated, the maritime drone is equipped with 18 protected launch containers for interceptors. Inside each container, the STING is secured using four guide tubes.
Thus, the maritime drone can serve as a mobile platform for launching interceptors on the open sea, expanding Ukraine’s capabilities to counter Russian strike drones.
